Without
children, life and faithfulness have no meaning beyond one generation
– children are the living messages
we send to a time we will not see. [Postman, 1994]
We welcome babies
and toddlers at Holy Trinity Church regardless of their ability to sit still or fully understand everything that we do together.
We recognise that small children get restless. Babies sometimes cry
out and toddlers get fidgety and ask questions ‘out loud’ during services - they need to see and move about and
moving about may sometimes mean a toddler taking a run up the aisle to be nearer the action. This is part of being a child
and it does not disturb us. With guidance and a good example from the adult congregation, youngsters soon
learn what behaviour is expected from them.
To help parents and small children
feel more relaxed and welcome at Holy Trinity, we provide a toddler-size table and chairs, on the carpeted area in front
of the font during weekly services. We have soft toys, stickle-bricks and coloured picture books for children to look
at. There are colouring books and drawing paper, colouring pencils and crayons.
Toys,
art materials and books are stored in three wicker hamper baskets. All we ask is that you supervise your child whilst
they are using the toddler zone and kindly return items to the appropriate storage hampers when finished with, so that everything
is kept in good condition for the next child to use.
THANK YOU
